2014 Rallye Monte Carlo Begins

The 2014 Rallye Monte Carlo Historique has started. As I write cars from Glasgow, Oslo and Stockholm are leaving their departure points.

We are The CRX89B team competing in a 1964 Austin Cooper S starting from Reims in Northern France. We are very pleased to have the Support of MiniSpares Ltd and Mini World magazine as our principle sponsors. Our thanks go in particular to Justin Jeffrey at  Mini Spares and Rod and Colin Taylor at Southam Mini and Metro Centre for helping us get through a serious engine problem and preparing the car for this years event. We are one car within Team GB comprising of 6 cars - 3 Minis, a Fiat 124 Coupe, an Alfa Romeo Guilletta and an Austin Healey.

Currently we are rolling down through northern France making our way to the start in Reims. We have heavy rain which may turn to snow when we climb into the mountains after our start time of 8.30pm on Friday.

Our CRX89B team comprises regular service chief Nigel Chetwynd assisted by Lisa Thornton who did a great job for the team last year. We welcome one of the most e xperienced navigators on the planet in the form of young Willy Cave who first completed a Monte Carlo in 1955.

Here a coupe Pictures to follow.
